Havana meets Kingston
- Friday 19:40 - Mainstage
Although Havana and Kingston are but a stone's throw away from one another, they boast very different musical styles. Australian reggae producer Mista Savona unites those traditions for the first time, resulting in a unique mix of reggae, dub and dancehall on the one hand, and salsa, rumba and son on the other. Besides members of Buena Vista Social Club and Los Van Van, big reggae names like Sly & Robbie, Leroy Sibbles, Turbulence and The Congos contributed to the two albums that were released last year. Debut single Carnival unites Cuban singer Solis and Jamaican Randy Valentine, while the sounds and rhythms of both islands fuse together seamlessly. For this performance Mafia and Fluxy will be taking care of the merciless drum & bass. Havana meets Kingston is the perfect festival act! Cocktail anyone?
