In 2014 Reggae Geel first made the amount of €25,000 available to projects that live and  breathe reggae and to social-artistic projects revolving around 'youth and music.' Since then the Social Fund became an established tradition. In 2018 Funky Fun Productions Nonprofit -the organisation behind Reggae Geel- will once again free a FUNKY FUND worth €25,000.

Reggae Geel's organisational team want to emphasise that they not only wish to set up a great music festival, but first and foremost want to play a role of social significance. Reggae Geel have always given opportunities to people who have a slightly more difficult time of it. This is achieved by giving responsibilities within the festival's operations to dozens of organisations from the socio-cultural sector, from care teams, youth groups and refugee shelters. These organisations also supply over 2,000 volunteers who keep the festival running smoothly and are given financial compensation for their efforts, enabling them to develop a better framework, plan more activities or cover more projects. Reggae Geel hope to thus contribute to a better, more tolerant society and to keep Reggae Geel a festival for as well as by all of us.

However in 2014 Reggae Geel decided that they wanted to do more since not every organisation, group or care institution is able to work at Reggae Geel. The organisation team didn't want these groups to be left out and started 'Funky Fund.' This fund allows organisations who are not active at Reggae Geel to apply for financial support. Funky Fund divides €25,000  across a minimum of 10 projects with a maximum budget  of €2,500 per project.
