The Congos feat. Pura Vida
Both The Congos and Pura Vida have set foot on our stages. This year, however, will be the first time they will play together.
The Congos were formed in the mid 1970s. For more than 40 years now they’ve been creating the most outstanding rootsreggae you will hear. For their famous album Heart of the Congos (1977) they worked together with grandmaster Lee “Scratch” Perry.
The Belgians of Pura Vida haven’t been around as long as these old-timers, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t think highly of them. Since 2006, Bregt “Braithe” De Boever and his Raiders of the Lost Ark have been caressing our ears with their world famous rootsreggae and dub. And they, too, have been working closely together with His Highness Lee “Scratch” Perry. De Boever has even based his Lost Ark studio on Perry’s Black Ark in Kingston, Jamaica, and follows the same philosophy of authenticity, focussing on music and creativity.
In 2009 the two versatile bands started working together, releasing their first album, We Nah Give Up, in 2011 under the Lost Ark Music Label. 2013 gave rise to their Hard Road Tour, they released their second album, Morning Star, in 2018 and expect to finish their third by the end of 2019.
But first... young and old together on stage at our festival, where they will serve us a lovely combo of rootsreggae and dub.
