Winston Francis

  • Saturday 21:30 - Tallawah

Winston Francis, aka Mr. Fix It, was born in Kingston, Jamaica and began his musical career as a choirboy in a Roman Catholic Church. His soft, silky voice soon led him to co-found The Sheridans, the legendary group around Edwin Brown, Pat Kelly and Owen Roberts.

After two years with The Sheridans, Winston Francis decided to go solo, and as a singer with dance band Carlos Malcolm and the Afro Jamaicans. In the late 1960s, he released his very first hit single "California Dreaming", and later the monster hit "Mr. Fix It", which earned him his nickname.

In 1988 Winston became part of the immensely popular musical "Black Heroes in the Hall of Fame". To this day, he has continued to tour. In 2019 he performed with David Rodigan at the Royal Albert Hall in London. And this year you’ll find him at Reggae Geel!
